Lessons learnt from my experiences:

  1. Set Realistic Goals – You have to walk before you can run; i.e. build your “core” (inner strength) first before doing intense exercise.
  2. Understand what your core is, this App and my workshops will show you.
  3. Speak out – Social Networks are vital; keep connected, most new mums don’t like talking about the different changes to their bodies, however we all experience these changes.
  4. Have fun; enjoy the time you have with your new baby – time flies!
  5. Keep a regular exercise routine; aim for 20 minutes, 3-4 sessions a week. My workouts in the App cater for those limited ‘me’ times.
  6. You don’t need to spend a lot of money; a mat, band and ball is all that you require.
  7. Many trainers are unfamiliar with looking after postnatal clients, and introduce risky exercise to new mums. I learnt ”The harder you train the better’ is the wrong way of thinking!
  8. Restricting food intake or exercising too frequently could make you even more tired, your baby requires lots of energy!
  9. It takes nine months to create a baby. Allow plenty of time to get your body back – we are not celebrity mums.
  10. Don’t be afraid to ask for help, my husband learnt to cook for our new family!
